What is the cause of insomnia?
Do you have difficulty falling asleep at night? Do you have difficulty staying asleep? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you most likely suffer from some form of insomnia or sleeplessness. Many factors can prevent someone from getting a good night's rest. Some sleep disorders are more serious and should be treated by a doctor, while others can be fixed quite easily. If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep through the night, it can be helpful to find out what might be causing the problem.
Stress: nearly one-third of people suffer from insomnia. One of the most common causes of sleepless nights is emotional turmoil such as stress. Job interviews, finances, closing on a home purchase or getting married are just a few of the factors that can force our brains to work overtime. And our brains don't stop working just because our bodies are tired. And if we don't get the amount of sleep we need, the stressors in our lives will become even more difficult to manage, making them seem worse and causing even more stress. For this reason, sleep is often more important than ever during stressful times.
Disruption of the circadian rhythm: All living beings live according to a circadian rhythm, which can be compared to an internal clock. When this rhythm is disrupted, it confuses our minds and bodies, leading to a disruption in our sleep patterns. Long night work, pregnancy, and travelling long distances and through different time zones (jet lag) are common events that can upset our circadian rhythm.
Sleep apnea: Sleep apnea is considered a more serious cause of insomnia and can be fatal if left untreated long enough. Neo-Latin apnoea, from Greek apnoea for "without breath," is a breathing disorder that causes insomnia. Millions of people suffer from this condition, which is caused by the obstruction of the airway at the back of the throat by flaccid soft tissue. This causes the sufferer to stop breathing for a short period. This case often occurs hundreds of times in a single night.
Poor sleep hygiene: many restless nights are caused by carelessness. Drinking caffeinated beverages or eating a large meal before bedtime can often lead to a night of tossing and turning. Taking a few hours before bed to calm down can usually help you fall asleep and, more importantly, sleep peacefully throughout the night.
Sleep Aid contains the active ingredient doxylamine succinate (25 mg). Clinical studies have shown that after taking one tablet, people fall asleep on average 23 minutes faster and sleep through the night longer than without Sleep Aid. Sleep Aid SleepTab formula is non-narcotic and clinically tested to ensure safety, efficacy and quality.
